Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology is an efficient wastewater treatment technology widely used in industrial and municipal wastewater treatment sites. The technology relies on MBBR media to provide an ideal surface for microbial growth to effectively treat organic matter and nitrogen in wastewater.

How MBBR works:

At the heart of MBBR technology is the use of plastic carriers with a high surface area to maximize microbial attachment and growth. These carriers move freely in the reactor, rolling with the water flow. This dynamic movement ensures that the microorganisms receive sufficient oxygen and nutrients, and also helps to remove excess biofilm and keep the system running stably.

Application of MBBR in wastewater treatment:

1, MBBR is highly efficient in removing organic matter: In MBBR systems, microorganisms form biofilms on the carrier surface that effectively decompose organic matter in wastewater. This process not only improves the treatment efficiency of organic matter, but also reduces the system's dependence on chemicals.

2, MBBR is effective at removing nitrogen: MBBR systems can effectively perform nitrification and denitrification processes, which are critical for removing ammonia and nitrate nitrogen from wastewater. By regulating water flow and aeration, MBBR technology can optimize both processes to improve nitrogen removal.

3, MBBR is flexible and scalable: The MBBR system is designed to be flexible and can be adapted to treatment needs and site conditions. It can be used as a stand-alone system or in combination with other wastewater treatment technologies (e.g. activated sludge) to increase treatment capacity.

4, MBBR is cost-effective: Since MBBR systems do not require additional mixing and maintenance, operating costs are relatively low. In addition, MBBR systems typically have a small footprint, which reduces the initial construction investment.

Conclusion: MBBR technology using MBBR media provides an efficient and economical wastewater treatment solution.
